The China Syndrome: China trip 1999

In 1999 Amy and I went to China for nearly 3 weeks, for our honeymoon.

We flew in to Hong Kong, and took the train to Shenzhen. Then we flew to Wuhan, where I met my new parents-in-law. After that we did some touristy things.

We went to Xiamen, where we stayed on Gulangyu Island. Next, we went to Shanghai, with a side trip to HangZhou to see West Lake and (along with approximately fifty thousand Chinese tourists) visit the Temple of Inspired Solitude. From Shanghai we went to HuangShan (the Yellow Mountains, one of the most famous Chinese scenic spots). Then we returned to Wuhan, and then back to Hong Kong, where we spent a couple days before flying back home.

Begin here; or skip the family stuff and go to the pretty scenery starting at Gulangyu Island.
