Arrival
Beijing was jet-lag city. Matthew woke up the first day at 3:00 AM, and
he was ready to party, leaping on every twitch and blink with cries of
glee. We reset our clocks nicely the next night, though, with an overnight
train ride to Wuhan. That worked out very nicely; we had our own tiny, but
comfortable, compartment (William was very excited by the bunk beds, and
slept happily in the top bunk), and the rocking and muted clattering of the
train made it impossible not to sleep. We were still a little sleepy in
Wuhan, but more or less on the local schedule.
