Everywhere William and (especially!) Matthew went, a little congregation of admirers would gather to stare. Matthew quite enjoyed this, and if he wasn't getting enough attention wasn't above wandering over to the nearest group and flirting; but William really didn't like it much, especially since the grannies always insisted on quizzing him in Chinese, which he barely understood.
